TEACHING TEAM

ALEXA XAVIER

Alexa is a natural at creating spaces where people feel empowered and understood. With a blend of curiosity, playfulness, and authenticity, she brings an open-hearted approach to everything she does. Fearlessly trying new things, Alexa fosters a collaborative environment where people discover just how brilliantly their bodies can move. Drawing from her deep knowledge of the body in motion, she tailors each session to what’s needed in the moment. Her favorite movements—like standing balance work, mermaid side bends, and dynamic rotations—invite a playful exploration of how the body communicates. In Alexa's classes, you'll experience a sense of success that transcends movement, connecting you to your mind, body, and spirit in a way that lasts long after you leave the studio.

AMANDA ACORN

Amanda's boundless curiosity for embodied knowledge fuels her creative approach to exploring the body’s potential, expression, and possibilities. A lifelong practitioner with expertise in somatic movement, dance studies, and Pilates, Amanda brings a unique blend of artistry and research to her work. As a passionate movement guide and professional dance artist, she views the body as an empathetic, responsive system, naturally attuned to its surroundings. Amanda’s grounded energy creates a safe space for others to explore, play, and grow. Whether she's out in nature with her dog, savoring oysters, or dancing to disco, Amanda is always in tune with the joy of movement.

BRITTANY COUGHLAN MURPHY

Brittany, founder of Fine Tune, is always thinking about Pilates and biomechanics, constantly seeking to deepen her connection with her own body and discover innovative ways to communicate movement. Passionate, curious, and empathetic, Brittany's approachable nature makes her easy to connect with. As a consummate creative, with 15+ years of experience, she blends traditional Pilates with contemporary research on movement modalities, rehab for the spine and major joints, trauma recovery, pelvic floor health, and the nervous system. Her career has been dedicated to working closely with individuals, offering personalized support through Pilates and body-positive coaching. A lover of music, you’ll catch some of her favorite tunes new and old on the well curated Fine Tune playlists.

Carla

CARLA INTERIOR

Carla’s quick wit and sharp sense of humor will keep you on your toes in every class and brings a fun fresh energy to your practice. Reliable, honest, and a master multitasker, she has a knack for catching every detail—so there’s no slacking under her keen eye! Carla's creativity shines in her approach to movement, and she's always eager to try something new. With 10+ year of teaching experience in yoga and Pilates, Carla adapts her approach to meet the moment’s needs, creating a dynamic experience that inspires growth and connection.

Dee

DANEA GRAY

Danea (Dee) has been a dynamic movement facilitator, guiding group wellness sessions across the GTA since 2016. Danea’s teaching brings a nurturing and empowering approach to every class. In 2021, she embarked on her Pilates journey to enhance her strength and stability within her yoga practice. Since then, she has completed her Contemporary Mat & Reformer Pilates training with Muse Movement, blending the best of both worlds to offer a well-rounded movement experience that fosters strength, balance, and mindfulness.

EMMA MORRIS

Emma’s approach to teaching Pilates is both curious and creative, driven by her fascination with movement and her deep commitment to helping clients tune in to their bodies. Drawing on a decade of experience as a contemporary dance artist, Emma designs classes that flow with a sense of exploration, challenge, and mindfulness. Her passion for community building and learning from others fuels her enthusiasm for bringing people together and working closely with clients to meet their individual needs. For Emma, personal movement practice is essential to her mental health and community involvement, and she’s dedicated to creating a space where her clients can also find grounding and support through movement.

ERIKA SUÁREZ

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Erika brings a unique blend of expertise as a professional dancer, social anthropologist, and Pilates instructor to her movement-based wellness sessions. Her deep curiosity about the connection between movement, the body, and its environment was sparked by her thesis on corporal studies and dance in the Colombian Caribbean.

Awarded the prestigious "Young Talented Artists" scholarship, Erika also completed an artistic residency in contemporary dance in Madrid, Spain. After moving to Toronto in 2017, she danced professionally before injuries led her to discover Pilates. With certifications in mat, reformer, and CCB, Erika works with a wide range of clients, including those recovering from injuries, individuals with arthritis or osteoporosis, dancers, athletes, and beginners. She tailors each session to empower her clients, blending her passion for movement with a holistic approach that nurtures both body and mind.

LEE MELAMED

Lee’s approach to teaching Pilates is generous, thoughtful, and deeply empathetic, shaped by over 15 years teaching and working creatively with the Pilates method. She thrives on helping people move, witnessing their bodies transform, and guiding them to cultivate strength. Known for her dry sense of humor, Lee keeps the room filled with laughter, but when she's not teaching, you can find her binge-watching cooking shows or enjoying a bowl of noodles. Lee draws her strength from supporting other women and trusts her intuition, both in her psycotherapy practice and when working with clients in movement.

MCKENZIE TAYLOR

McKenzie (Mac) is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and movement facilitator with expertise in contemporary Pilates, somatics, and trauma-informed movement. She thrives on exploring movement as a creative experiment, guiding others to connect with their bodies and experience their fullest potential. McKenzie is passionate about how embodiment practices can help people restore nervous system resilience, using movement to foster a deeper sense of balance and well-being.

ROXY MENZIES

Roxy is an artist with two decades of experience who seamlessly blends dance, writing, and healing arts in her multifaceted practice. With a deep curiosity about the human body, mind, and spirit, she advocates for women’s health and holistic well-being. Roxy has taught dance and various movement modalities within the Canadian educational system, as well as with professional dancers/companies, Cirque du Soleil, and numerous corporations. She holds certifications in Pilates, GYROTONIC®, Yamuna® Body Rolling, and is a Pelvic Health PTA. Her work has taken her around the globe, presenting and performing in cities like London, New York, Paris, Beirut and more.

As a writer, Roxy shares her health and wellness insights on platforms like Pilates Anytime, Healthline, Black Girl Pilates®, and The Dance Current. With a commitment to guiding and educating others, she creates safe spaces for individuals to explore their movement potential and embrace their unique journeys.

STEPHANIE MULLER

Steph is passionate about helping people connect with their bodies and find presence in their practice. Her goal is to give others a moment to come home to themselves, leaving each session feeling accomplished and rejuvenated. With experience working with a diverse range of bodies and their unique needs, both in classes and one-on-one sessions, Steph brings a thoughtful approach to her teaching. Her background in dance keeps her moving, both at home and in the world around her. When she’s not facilitating movement, you’ll find her enjoying long walks in nature, whether exploring new destinations or wandering through the beauty of High Park.
